Why You Should Always Have a Flashlight in Your Car

Having a good-quality flashlight is similar to having an “all-around” toolkit for survival. It can most definitely light you up at paths that are dark, and flashlights with many lumens can be used to start a fire. While all of those seem a bit out-of-the-ordinary, you should always consider carrying a flashlight with you at all times.

If you have a car, it is a recommendation to have a flashlight there in case of an emergency. Similar to a jack and a spare tire, a flashlight could be just as useful. So why do you need to have a flashlight in your car at all times? Well, for a couple of reasons.

Do note that if you don’t drive a car, make it a habit to keep a small flashlight in your pocket. There are small flashlights that emit the brightest lights. So without further ado, here are the reasons why you always have to have a flashlight in your car.

Flashlights for emergency purposes

Imagine driving past midnight from a neighborhood you’re not familiar with. Gathering all of the most unfortunate times, your car breaks down – it won’t start. What would you do if you pulled over to a road that doesn’t have enough lighting for you to look under the hood?

Another reason why you always need to have a flashlight in your car is when you get involved in accidents. A powerful ray of light would help attract enforcers and other people who can help.

Natural disasters such as fast floods, typhoons, blizzards, and the like, could also be aided if you have a handy flashlight. Oftentimes, during these types of natural disasters, you would need a strong light to find your correct path.

Flashlights for self-defense

The bright beam of your flashlight, especially if it’s a tactical flashlight, can be used as a weapon to temporarily disarm your attacker. You can use the light to point to your attacker’s eyes so your attacker could be temporarily stunned.

If that won’t be enough, though, you can use the high-grade rugged aluminum of your tactical flashlight to strike your attacker. You might be surprised that this can be enough to keep your attacker disabled until help arrives.

You can do the same thing with regular flashlights; the only difference would be the rugged edges – most everyday flashlights are plastic, only a few are aluminum. So, carrying a tactical flashlight would be your best option.

For you to get to your car safely

Even if your workplace offers its own parking space, the long journey from your office to your car can be a bit nerve-wracking. But if you have a tactical flashlight or even just a regular everyday flashlight, you can safely travel from your office to your car.

With you being able to light the path to your car appropriately, you never have to worry about walking and grabbing on things you do not see.

For you to scare off dogs and other animals

Let’s admit it – there are a lot of stray dogs and animals everywhere – even in cities. This might be dangerous especially if the stray dog you’re dealing with hasn’t been properly trained. So if you find yourself in a situation where you’re all alone in a dark place outside your car and a stray dog sending the signal that it wants to run to you, what would you do?

You won’t be able to do much because it’s a dog; you won’t be able to talk to it to leave you alone. Having a tactical flashlight, however, can change the whole course of the situation. With a tactical flashlight, you can scare off dogs by shining the light through their faces.

Doing this will send them the signal that you are not someone they can mess with; then they’ll eventually just leave you alone.

It’s legal to be carried

Unlike other weapons such as small handguns and knives, no state or town disallows the bringing of flashlights. In fact, they even recommend it to everyone especially to people who frequently roam the night. Why? It’s because they know that a flashlight is a necessity when driving –when traveling.

The fact that it’s legal to be carried elsewhere is a reason why you should always have it. You’ll never know when you will need it the most; it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Having a flashlight in your car at all times might save you from a particular situation. Whether it’s just a normal night where you can’t find your keys, to a night where an attacker decides to attack you, a flashlight might just be the only weapon/tool/assistance you need to get through it.
